Digital Hope was theorized in 2008 by John Roa and Kevin Lerash as a nonprofit organization focused on bridging the gap between the social web and under-resourced international humanitarian projects.
Over the next two years, the scope and focus of Digital Hope changed considerably before settling in on our vision: orchestrating humanitarian projects that are fueled and funded by social media.
The answer was a resounding "Yes". We raised $1000 a day to fund this effort, allowing us to pack a 14' truck with 6,000lbs of food, water, toiletries and clothing and drove it down to Joplin to help the survivors and volunteers on the ground.
The success of this project gave us renewed confidence to push Digital Hope with a large, coordinated effort. Since that point, we have acquired launch funding, organized our first two international projects, are building our innovative web application and developing important partnerships around the world to aid in our mission. We plan to launch at the end of 2011 and kick-off our first official international project in Q1 2012. Want to help? Please Contact Us!
