Through the wonderful generosity of the Digital Hope community, only 10 days ago we were able to raise over $2,500 for the center and provide the volunteer staff and 60 students with resources they never thought possible.
This post is written by Miles Makdisi, Finance Director at Colombia Sin Fronteras giving an update, just 10 days later, on the impact Digital Hope had.

The seeds of change for Colombia Sin Fronteras (C.S.F.) were planted on Friday, May 3rd, 2012 when Digital Hope...
Words cannot describe the feeling that today has brought with it.
I have tried on a few occasions today and each word does not do it justice. To watch a project go from nearly broken to thriving in the space of 24 hours is just incredible.
The staff and volunteers of Colombia Sin Fronteras are among some of the most inspiring, youthful, compassionate people I have ever met. Day, week and month after month they bring hope to some of the most impoverished children on the planet. Their energy...
One hour ago, we finished our 24 hour fundraising spree to see how big of an impact we could make for our newest Digital Hope partner, Colombia Sin Fronteras. Well, that result was over $2500 that will instantly change the lives of 60 underprivileged students.
First, messages from the Colombia Sin Fronteras teams. Then, a recap of the project from Jock McEwan from Digital Hope.

As I am sat here there is just 1 hour left to donate to this incredible charity here in Colombia, already over 80 donors have been kind enough to lend their support. Not bad for a campaign we started on the basis of what we saw with our own eyes. Kids writing on old donated menus and sharing a few pens and pencils.
Colombia San Fronteros began with a local lady heading to a field to read to the kids who were not attending school. This selfless act grew to teaching basic reading and writing and...
Colombia Sin Fronteras is a school in the barrios (shanty towns) of Valle de Gaira in Northern Colombia. Situated in the hills outside the prosperous region of Rodadero, this region is as poor as Rododera is rich. People who live here were displaced during the conflicts of Colombia in the 70’s and 80’s and live in what they can build.
The school itself is run entirely by unpaid volunteers, financed entirely by donations and under threat if this support cannot be maintained. Digital Hope...
Digital Hope is pleased to partner with Sí a la Vida in Nicaragua.
Nicaragua, one of the poorest countries in the western hemisphere, has seen its youth displaced and left to live on the streets. Left hungry and with no resources, many of the kids turn to sniffing glue because it quells their hunger pangs. In 1994, Sí a la Vida was founded to rescue, rehabilitate and reintegrate these children. Based on the principles of understanding, respect and unconditional love, children are given the care...
Imerman Angels is a Chicago based nonprofit which provides one-on-one cancer mentorship. The network was established by Jonny Imerman, a survivor who believed no one should have to face cancer alone. Imerman recently spoke about using community and social media to create a culture of doing good. Below is his list of how to create a strong community and how to bring online communities offline.

Malnourished, orphaned, and abused children still feel the effects of the brutal civil war in Guatemala. Founded in 1977 to help change this, Casa Guatemala’s mission is to provide a safe home, love and nurturing, proper healthcare, and an adequate education to these children in need. With 3 locations and over 300 children per year, Casa Guatemala strives to prepare them with the care and skills necessary to become upstanding and empowered citizens in their communities.

SONATI - sustainable environmental education in Nicaragua -- Some may say this is a match made in heaven. As Digital Hope works to bring exposure to international organizations by focusing on four main pillars (children initiatives, environmental efforts, wildlife conservation, and community building), SONATI combines these goals into one unified program specific to the needs of Nicaragua. By working with children to increase their knowledge, love, and care towards the environment, SONATI...
Our excitement as an organization just keeps growing and growing! Digital Hope obtained 501(c)(3) status on October 31st and in just a few days, Johnny Roa and Ruairi Hyland will fly to Central America to meet with each partner organization. As we near closer to our official launch, we think it's a perfect time to continue our discussion about "digital hope" as a broad concept and explore its definition further.
This post continues our series "What #digitalhope Means to Me" and shares the thoughts...
